Tezat and Kier Stevens at Open Studio
Join Tezat and Doggerel on a Sunday afternoon journey through a clash of culture and music tradition. Kier Stevens (Doggerel) begins this journey: For the past year or so, dirty blues act Doggerel have been traipsing their xenophonic tunes through various venues around Melbourne, surprising audiences at each show. Vocalist and lap-slide guitarist Kier Stevens will perform a solo set of original songs starting with classic 12-bar commiserations, running through some upbeat and downhearted numbers, and finishing up a bit further East from where it all began. Continuing this journey further east, we present Tezat: Born out of a fascination of Eastern soundscape and odd time signatures, this is a dynamic quartet exploring original work, Eastern musics, Modern jazz and improvisation textures. It is a journey through a clash of cultures and expressions, shaped to be energetic and engaging, yet smooth and sophisticated. Tezat have played numerous events, although private corporate functions, this marks the first publically available gig for Tezat - a premiere performance.
